| Couple Sues Scranton Police Officer and City of Scranton for Serious Injuries |
| Posted By Patrick M. Rogan |

| Recent allegations that a Scranton detective was found armed, drunk and unconscious in an unmarked police car this past Christmas Eve have renewed public interest in another story about a different Scranton police officer being sued by a Scranton couple into whose car he crashed while pulling an illegal U-turn last January.
According the the Times-Tribune, the couple filed suit against the officer in November, alleging that the accident caused serious and permanent injuries. The couple is also suing the city for what they describe as its failure to properly train, monitor and supervise the officer.
The outcome of the case remains to be seen, but I feel for the couple filling the charges.
It's hard enough to physically recover from an auto accident that causes serious injuries, but to have to summon the courage to sue a police officer and the city in which one lives just to secure justice must be incredibly difficult. With mounting medical bills added to the mix, one can understand how accident victims may feel entirely helpless and lost. Their road to recovery may be long, hard and expensive.
A Scranton car accident attorney experienced in representing car accident victims can help. If you have been injured in a car accident in Scranton, then you need a Scranton car accident lawyer to evaluate your case and to determine how to protect your interests and seek maximum financial compensation for your injuries.

| Scranton Drunk Driving Accident Attorney |

| The holidays are here, and while we all welcome the festivity and celebration the season offers, we could do without the irresponsible behavior of those people who, despite massive efforts to raise the public's awareness about its dangers, continue to drive drunk.
According to national statistics, approximately one-third of all auto accidents involve drunk drivers. So many drunk drivers take to the roads everyday, that one person dies in an alcohol-related car accident every 45 seconds.
Rogan Law represents clients who have been injured in drunk driving accidents in Scranton and throughout Northeast Pennsylvania and the Poconos.

| Marcellus Shale's Competing Interests |
| Posted By Patrick M. Rogan |
 |
| Today's Times-Tribune reports that John Quigley, the acting secretary of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and Pennsylvania's top conservation official, has serious concerns about balancing deep-well drilling in the Marcellus Shale formation in Northcentral Pennsylvania with the interests of hikers, hunters, campers and timber companies that also use state forest land.
As he prepares to receive bids for drilling on the 32,000 acres of state forest land in the Marcellus Shale formation, Quigley points out that the move to begin extracting natural gas from parks that are part of the formation will link our state's conservation agenda with resource extraction for the next fifty years.
As DCNR leans more heavily on natural resource development to offset losses in support from tax dollars, big questions remain about how to balance our state park system with what could become one hundred deep-drilling wells, each with a footprint of about 10 acres, on land formerly dedicated primarily to public use.
There are many legal issues surrounding this formation, some of which include the approval of water withdrawals, permitting water impoundments, erosion and sedimentation controls, wastewater discharges and treatment and complying with local land use and zoning for ancillary facilities.
If you or someone you know has been personally affected by the development of this formation or if you believe you will be affected in the future, then your should seek representation from Pennsylvania Attorney Patrick M. Rogan as soon as possible to make sure your rights are protected.
All of us should voice our own concerns to our elected officials both now and next year, when our state's park and forest systems will likely become an issue in our candidates' campaigns for governor. |

| The Times-Tribune reported today that a Carbondale man died Thursday as a result of an automobile accident on the Casey Highway. His car was stopped and was facing the wrong direction, without lights, when a westbound vehicle crashed into him. Police stated that the place he chose to stop was not visible to oncoming traffic. The man driving the westbound vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Tragedies like these happen on the roads of Northeast Pennsylvania and of the Pocono mountains every day. In the wake of a serious auto accident, a victim may be left facing overwhelming medical bills as well as the emotional trauma associated with the accident itself.
